Johnny Depp Set to Direct a Biopic called Modi, With Al Pacino To Have A Pivotal Role

Johnny Depp Direct Modi Al Pacino

Famous Hollywood actor Johnny Depp will return to direction after 25 years; his last directorial venture was The Brave in 1997. Depp will be making a comeback to direction in a biopic titled “Modi,” no, it’s not based on the life of famous Indian politician Narendra Modi.

Modi will be dedicated to the renowned Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, who was known as Modi to his friends. Riccardo Scamarcio has been chosen to lead the cast of “Modì.” Depp, eager to make a grand comeback in the film industry, is poised to leave a lasting impression with this ambitious project.

Currently, at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, The Pirate of the Caribbean star received a seven-minute standing ovation for his upcoming film “Jeanne du Barry,” by Maïwenn, which made Depp all teared up with emotions at the audience reaction. However, Depp’s true directorial aspirations will come to fruition in the months ahead as he embarks on “Modì” after a substantial hiatus.

About Modi

“Modì” will bring to life the story of Amedeo Modigliani during his stay in war-torn Paris in 1916. Based on Dennis McIntyre’s play and skillfully adapted by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski for the big screen, the film will unfold over 48 tumultuous hours.

Modigliani finds himself on the run from the police, navigating the treacherous streets and bars of Paris. Faced with the desire to end his career and abandon the city prematurely, Modigliani encounters opposition from his fellow bohemians:

Maurice Utrillo, the talented French artist, and Chaim Soutine, the Belarusian prodigy. Additionally, Al Pacino will portray Gangnat, the influential international art collector.

To seek counsel in his moment of chaos, Modigliani turns to his trusted Polish art dealer and friend, Leopold Zborowski. However, the turning point arrives when he encounters a collector who holds the power to change his life forever.

Through this snapshot of Modigliani’s life, the audience gains insight into the artist’s struggles, relentless pursuit of recognition, and profound impact on the art world.
