Netflix has released the official trailer and key art for The One About Matthew Perry, a new three part documentary series that looks at the life, career, struggles, friendships, and legacy of the actor so many of us grew up watching as Chandler Bing.
All three episodes will premiere globally on October 27, 2026, just one day before the third anniversary of Matthew Perry’s passing. Each episode runs around 50 minutes and goes far beyond his time on Friends, exploring his personal life, experiences with addiction and recovery, and the advocacy work that became an important part of his later years.
Directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, the documentary features interviews with Perry’s family, longtime friends, former girlfriends, and collaborators, along with previously unseen photos and videos from his family’s private archive.
One of the most emotional parts may be hearing from Perry’s younger sister, Mia Perry Bowick, who speaks about her brother on camera for the first time. Longtime friends Roger Castillo and David Pressman also share their stories, with Castillo revealing a connection to Perry that goes back more than 40 years, including driving him to his Friends audition.
The series also revisits the creation of Chandler Bing, with firsthand accounts from former NBC Entertainment president Warren Littlefield and Season 1 writer Jeff Strauss.
Beyond Friends, the documentary explores Perry’s work in projects like Fools Rush In, The Whole Nine Yards, Boys Will Be Boys, and The End of Longing, while also taking an honest look at his recovery journey and advocacy.
