In Matthew Perry’s upcoming book, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” Keanu Reeves has been the topic of much debate over the past few hours.

When discussing the passing of his friend River Phoenix, the actor questioned why Keanu Reeves is still alive when legends like Heath Ledger and River Phoenix left this world too soon.

He remarked that too many geniuses were ahead of their time to mention them all here. It suffices to say that my Jimmy’s Girls co-star River Phoenix should be at the top of any such list.

River turned was too lovely for this world despite being a handsome man on the inside and out. The genuinely talented individuals always seem to go.

Why do original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die while Keanu Reeves still walks among us? The river was a better actor than me. It was more fun. But I stood up to him in our scenes, which is no small feat if I look back decades later.

Matthew Perry also addresses his comment about the late comedian Chris Farley.

His illness had progressed faster than mine. Also, I had a healthy fear of the word ‘heroin,’ a fear we didn’t share. I made a hole in the wall of Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room when I found out. And Keanu Reeves walks among us. I had to promote Almost Heroes two weeks after his death. I found myself publicly discussing his death from drugs and alcohol. I was high the whole time.

These remarks spread fast throughout the globe, and Perry soon found himself in the center of a storm of controversy. He has thus chosen to formally apologize to Keanu Reeves by sending a message to People.

I’m a huge fan of Keanu – the actor said. I just picked a random name, my mistake. I should have used my name. I’m sorry.
