J.K. Rowling, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe Pays Tribute to Robbie Coltrane

The Gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid portrayal actor Robbie Coltrane passed away yesterday, and the Harry Potter cast still pays tribute to him.

Sadly, Hagrid, the gentle giant that appeared in the Harry Potter series, passed away yesterday at the age of 72. He was a varied and brilliant actor, but the world will never forget him for playing the Hogwarts Gamekeeper.

The renowned actor, who took the name John Coltrane in 1950 after deciding to alter it in honor of jazz great John Coltrane, opted to pursue acting in London and try his hand at stand-up comedy in Edinburgh. He was born Anthony Robert McMillan.

In 1980, he then started a career in movies. Flash Gordon and La Morte in Diretta, released in theaters that year, really count as his first television credits.

Due to his BAFTA-winning performance, he was cast in two James Bond movies. In reality, he portrayed Valentin Zukovsky in The World is Not Enough and GoldenEye.

Then, in 2001, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first book in the series devoted to the bespectacled wizard, brought him to the forefront of global renown. In this book, he played Hagrid, a giant with a kind heart who will live on in all of our hearts forever.

All of his coworkers are paying respect to him on social media, including J.K. Rowling, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, and many others.

Daniel Radcliffe issued a statement:

“an incredible actor and a lovely man.’ His statement read, “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set. I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on Prisoner of Azkaban, when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up. I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”
