The Marvels trailer has garnered almost half a million dislikes on YouTube since its release two days ago.

The Marvels is the official sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel and stars Brie Larson in the lead role of Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel. The movie is set to hit theaters on November 10, 2023, and features Teyonah Parris of WandaVision and Iman Vellani of Ms. Marvel.

The public has responded negatively to the trailer, which has set an unprecedented record for an MCU trailer. The trailer has garnered over 442,000 dislikes and 434,000 likes.

This is a highly negative response, considering the usual hype surrounding Marvel trailers. For example, the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has 764,000 likes and only 17,000 dislikes. Even the trailer for the poorly received She-Hulk project has 786,000 likes and “only” 554,000 dislikes.

About The Marvels

The Marvels, directed by Nia DaCosta, features Carol Danvers, who has reclaimed her identity from the Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence.

When Carol is sent into a wormhole, her powers merge with those of Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) and Monica Rambeau (Captain Rambeau’s astronaut niece). The unlikely trio must work together to save the universe. However, unforeseen consequences have led to a destabilized universe.

Samuel L Jackson also returns as Nick Fury, along with Kamala Khan’s family and Goose, who delivers her Flerken powers. The trailer reveals that the trio unexpectedly swaps powers when they use them, as first teased in the Ms. Marvel credit scene.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has compared the movie to 2012’s The Avengers, stating that “there’s something immensely powerful about seeing Monica and Kamala and Carol together in a frame.” He goes on to say that it’s “chill-inducing” to see them all together.
