Giancarlo Esposito turned down a Major Role in the Loki series

Giancarlo Esposito, known for his roles as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul and his performances in other popular series like The Mandalorian and The Boys, has long been discussed as a potential addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is one of the fans’ top choices for various villains like Magneto or Doctor Doom or for heroes like Charles Xavier / Professor X.

Giancarlo Esposito disclosed at the Boston Fan Expo 2022 that he had spoken with Marvel Studios about joining the cast of Loki in an unnamed role a few years prior.

Giancarlo Esposito offered his opinion on the Marvel-related speculations. He acknowledged that they first spoke while he was looking for a television part for Marvel Studios a few years back. “I believe it was for Loki.”

During the talk, Esposito indicated that he had turned down the part in Loki since he planned to have a more significant role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Giancarlo Esposito suggested he decline this enigmatic television job because he preferred to play a part in a movie. He makes me think of the incident of Benedict Cumberbatch. The latter refused the position of Malekith in Thor: The Dark World in the hopes of receiving a better offer, which finally turned out to be Doctor Strange.

Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw feature in the show Loki, written and directed by Kate Herron, and is now being produced for a second season.
