The trailer for the sequel to The Meg called The Meg 2: The Trench, has been released. It features many thrilling actions and adventures as Jason Statham goes underwater to face even more giant sharks.

Jason Statham and Wu Jing play the lead roles in the film and embark on an underwater journey to explore new marine life, including tentacled creatures and whale sharks. But their exploration takes a dangerous turn when they face prehistoric sharks and giant creatures with multiple tentacles.

The trailer starts by showing the ferociousness of the dinosaurs that even preyed on crocodiles. Then, it transitions to the present day, where a group of sharks is attacking tourists at an attraction without any mercy. Jason Statham’s character is seen fighting off three sharks, but the situation worsens during their underwater mission.

According to Variety, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Sienna Guillory, Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Skyler Samuels, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta. Li Bingbing, who appeared in the first movie alongside Jason, will not return for the sequel.

The Meg 2: The Trench follows the success of its predecessor, which grossed $530 million worldwide in 2018. The original movie was inspired by Steve Alten’s 1997 techno-thriller Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, and the screenplay for the sequel was written by the original adaption team, Dean Georgaris, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber. Ben Wheatley directs the film.
