Margot Robbie wants Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy Romance in DCEU

Margot Robbie Harley Quinn Poison Ivy Romance

Margot Robbie has served as Harley Quinn’s official face for many years. When speaking with ComicBook during her ‘Babylon’ press tour, Robbie expressed her desire to see the romance that Harley Quinn has had with Poison Ivy for a while in the DC universe. Robbie has now sewed the character onto herself, even though Lady Gaga will portray the psychiatrist lover of the Gotham clown in the upcoming Joker sequel.

I’ve been pushing for this for years. I can’t tell you how hard I tried. I want it too – Robbie added that she would be happy to see any actress in the role. Honestly, when I picture it, I always think of Poison Ivy as it is in the comics. I don’t imagine an actress doing that, but I agree, it would be so cool.

It’s been a while since Margot Robbie mentioned this potential addition. Robbie began her run as Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad,’ before resurrecting the character in ‘Birds of Prey and ‘The Suicide Squad.

The Importance of Harley and Ivy's Queer Animated Romance

Trust me; they are always there to pester them. They must be sick of hearing this, but I’m like, “Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy. Come on, let’s do it,” Robbie explained. I can’t wait to see a Harley-Poison Ivy relationship on screen. That would be so much fun. So I will continue to torment them. Don’t worry.

Poison Ivy first appeared on screen in the 1997 movie Batman & Robin, where she was portrayed by no other than Uma Thurman, who co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the menacing Mr. Freeze. Warner Bros. may want to introduce new iconic characters in the future of DC.

James Gunn, who directed the actor’s “Suicide Squad” film, now co-runs DC Studios with Peter Safran. Given that Gunn is a fan of the Harley character and his appearance, it seems likely that Robbie’s Harley will return at some point.

Harley Quinn will make her next appearance on the big screen in Joker: Folie à Deux. But Robbie will not play the character because Lady Gaga has been chosen to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix. The film is set to release in theaters on October 4, 2024.
