'Knives Out' Director Confirms Daniel Craig's Character is Gay

Benoit Blanc, the slick detective, played by Daniel Craig in Knives Out is Gay, according to filmmaker Rian Johnson. Before yesterday night’s London Film Festival closing gala, Johnson made the news while talking about his sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

The filmmaker questioned whether the detective was homosexual after a scene showing Blanc living with another guy. The director answered, “Yes, he is.

Johnson said, “There is no one in the world I can fathom bringing me greater delight for Benoit Blanc to be with.” Johnson was referring to the actor who plays Blanc’s boyfriend in a top-secret appearance.

When the kitsch murder-mystery film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery hits theaters on November 23, fans of the genre will learn who Blanc’s companion is. The movie debuts on Netflix on December 23.

The sequel’s all-star ensemble includes the late Angela Lansbury and Stephen Sondheim, Craig, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hann, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and Leslie Odom Jr.

Glass Onion will be dedicated to their memory, and both Sondheim and Lansbury are listed as playing themselves in the film.
