Based on David Grann’s novel of the same name, the film delves into the investigation surrounding a string of murders that plagued the Osage tribe in Osage County, Oklahoma, during the 1920s. The indigenous people had recently struck oil on their land and had secured the legal rights to profit from it. However, this newfound wealth made them targets of unscrupulous ranchers.

In a recent interview with Premiere, Scorsese provided a glimpse into the film’s essence, describing it as a Western set in 1921-1922 Oklahoma. He anticipated the presence of cowboys who owned both cars and horses.

The story’s heart revolves around the Osage tribe, assigned a desolate territory they cherished because they believed the white settlers would never covet it. Nevertheless, with the discovery of oil, the Osage became the wealthiest people in the world per capita for a decade.

Eventually, outside forces descended upon them, like Yukon and Colorado mining regions, resulting in their downfall. Scorsese poignantly noted that, at that time, killing an Indian would draw fewer consequences than killing a dog.

With this compelling trailer, “Killers of the Flower Moon” promises a thrilling narrative infused with history, greed, and the harrowing consequences of wealth. Audiences eagerly await its theatrical release, ready to embark on a cinematic journey masterfully crafted by the brilliant Martin Scorsese.
