Ari Aster, the director of “Midsommar,” officially announced in February 2021 that his next film, initially referred to as “Disappointment Blvd,” would be a four-hour “nightmarish comedy. It is noteworthy that Aster had previously directed a short film in 2011 named “Beau,” which tells the story of a neurotic middle-aged man’s trip to see his mother being disrupted when his keys are mysteriously taken from his door, leading to a series of increasingly disturbing events that haunt him.

Aster previously told IndieWire that his next feature film would not be a horror film. “It might take me a few movies before I wind back around to [horror], but I love horror and I’m sure I’ll be back.”

The film also has a noteworthy cast, including Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone. It is set to be released in theaters on April 21.
