Will Smith apologizes to Chris Rock through video.

Will Smith posted an apology video to YouTube for hitting presenter Chris Rock during the live TV broadcast of this year’s Oscars. Smith slapped Rock in the face, then sat back in the audience and cursed at him. After Rock jokes about how short Smith’s wife’s hair was, people worldwide watched Smith walk out on stage.

After his performance, Smith won the Oscar for best actor nomination. That is the lead role he played in the movie King Richard. But a few days later, he quit the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and for the next ten years, he couldn’t go to any of its events.

“Chris, please forgive me. My behavior was wrong, and I’m here to talk whenever you’re ready, “Smith said in an emotional video posted on Friday that he had reached out to Rock but that Rock told him he wasn’t ready yet.

Rock is said to have talked about the slap at his stand-up show in New Jersey this week. Rock reportedly joked, “Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.” He added that he wasn’t a victim and just shook it off. “If I cut myself on paper, I don’t go to the hospital.”
