One episode of Great Friends showed it missed its best chance.

Many things about Friends make it famous and memorable. But one great episode shows that Friends missed a massive chance with two of the characters.

Friends had ten seasons from 1994 to 2004, leading to many memorable episodes and significant character interactions. People love many friendships on the show, like Rachel and Monica or Joey and Chandler. But one episode of Friends shows a missed chance that would have made the show even better. One significant episode of Friends showed the show’s most enormous missed opportunity.

“The One With All the Cheesecakes,” the seventh season of Friends, is famous and well-known. In this episode, Chandler accidentally gets a cheesecake and falls in love with it. Rachel also loves it after he gives her a bite. Chandler and Rachel from Friends become so obsessed with cheesecake that they go to Chicago to visit the restaurant where it is made. After a fight back at the apartment, Rachel, Chandler, and Joey finish the story by eating their neighbour’s stolen cheesecake on the floor.

Regarding Rachel and Chandler’s friendship, “The One With All the Cheesecakes” was a missed opportunity. They have a fun and significant relationship that you don’t usually see in Friends. The cheesecake plot is silly and funny, and it probably would have worked with any couple, but it’s excellent that Chandler and Rachel became addicted to the cheesecake. Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston are both funny, but they’re at their funniest when they play off each other. Joey and Phoebe also have some great moments in “The One With All the Cheesecakes,” but Rachel and Chandler are the show’s stars.

Even though Chandler and Rachel are great together in “The One With All the Cheesecakes,” they are the least used pair in the whole series. According to a Slate study and Digital Spy shared, Rachel and Chandler were only on screen together without the other four main characters of Friends 0.7% of the time. That’s a shame because Chandler and Rachel could have been in more stories together. It could have been preferable to have more moments of Rachel and Chandler getting to know one another and less of Joey and Rachel’s peculiar connection.

“The One With All the Cheesecakes” shows that Rachel and Chandler should have had more stories together on Friends. The pair did have other great comedic moments together. For example, in the Friends season 4 episode “The One With the ‘Cuffs,” Rachel’s boss, Joanna, leaves Chandler half-naked and handcuffed to an office chair, and Rachel tries hilariously to free her friend. But Rachel and Chandler also show that they are great friends. In “The One With the Two Parties,” Chandler comforts Rachel after her parent’s divorce, and in “The One Where Joey Moves Out,” Rachel is there for Chandler when he’s sad about Joey getting his place. Rachel and Chandler have a lot of funny and sweet moments together, but they should have had more time to shine together.

Rachel and Chandler could have had a lot of funny or touching stories to tell together. But Friends missed a chance to have the two characters work on more levels without the other main characters. “The One With All the Cheesecakes” shows how funny Chandler and Rachel could be together.
