Friends was Originally called Insomnia Cafe

FRIENDS is still one of the relevant and most watched sitcoms of all time to date. Nearly two and a half decades ago, FRIENDS made its debut on NBC and forever changed the face of American Sitcom.

The main Characters of the Show – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, were one of the highest-paid actors on a Tv show at one point. All six actors were getting paid $1 Million for their roles: Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Chandler Bing, and Ross Geller.

FRIENDS WAS ORIGINALLY CALLED INSOMNIA CAFÉ

Two decades away, in the early 1990s, Creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman wrote their first ever pitch of around seven pages to create and release a sitcom named Insomnia Café.

The Plot and the roles were different from what we have seen in the show, and my God, what would have happened to the show if it had the name Insomnia Café rather than friends? In the Friest script, before changes, Racheal and Ross were not supposed to be the Key couples, but it was Joey and Monica. Can you believe that?

After a lot of changes in the names, NBC brought the name Friends Like Us and one more which was Six of One, and another one Across the Hall, but when the show was aired, the name came down to finally called FRIENDS, and we all are delighted it went down to just a single word.
